So you’ve identified a potential therapist with whom you’d like to work, and you’ve booked a consultation. Good job! Things are moving in a positive direction.
Here is the second of 5 questions you can ask a potential therapist to see if that therapist would be a good fit.
2.”What’s your mission?”
The motivational speaker Simon Sinek wrote a helpful book called Start With Why. In this book he advances one simple idea: people aren’t inspired by what you do, they are inspired by why you do it. It’s the mission that captivates us and inspires us to take action.
Here is my mission statement:
As a dedicated therapist, I am driven by a passion to empower individuals to see themselves in their true light, radiating with untapped potential and boundless possibilities. Through the art of active listening and thoughtful questioning, I unveil the hidden gems of strength and resilience within each person, igniting a journey of self-discovery and growth. Witnessing the metamorphosis of my clients into beacons of hope, flexibility, and confidence is not just a privilege but a profound honor. I believe unwaveringly in their capacity for greatness, and I stand unwaveringly beside them as they navigate their path to success. Together, we embark on a transformative voyage, where every step forward is a testament to the extraordinary capabilities within us all.
Perhaps my mission is exuberant, but when I read it, no matter what I’m up against that day, I feel purpose-driven, energized and ready to work. I am grateful to have a why and the opportunity to share it.
I would love to hear your feedback on this post as well as your best hopes from doing therapy. Please share your thoughts with me at jeremyfaintherapy@gmail.com
